Chris takes a different view of the Lake District. Not for him the myriad of greens and browns of the popular Lakeland watercolours. Instead he sees a region of vibrant oranges, blues and purples all mixed together with the help of an ever changing climate. "I like to see the clouds hanging over the mountains and shafts of sunlight illuminating areas of fell. The colours and the atmosphere can be a humbling experience, to witness the power of mother nature."

His liking for bold lines and colour may also reflect his training at art colleges in Swindon and in Cornwall as well as an earlier career in graphic design which brought him to his present home in Sheffield, close to the moors of the Peak District, which are another of his regular subjects.

Chris paints on silk and has developed his unique technique over the past five years, "when I was first introduced to this method of painting I was immediately struck by the vibrant colours, and the way the colours would interact with each other. It was then just a case of developing the technique and plenty of practice.
