Diane Gainey Print

'Anyone familiar with the changing moods of Cumbria, will understand why I find the area such an irresistible source of inspiration ……'

Diane GaineyBorn in Boston, in the fenland landscape of Lincolnshire, Diane grew up with a fascination for mountains, following family holidays to Wales, Derbyshire and Cumbria. After qualifying at Hartlepool College of Art and Design, Diane began her career as a Graphic Designer. An increasing demand for her watercolours, and a dislike for computer aided design led to a change in direction, whilst an insatiable love of the Lake District resulted in an inevitable move to Cumbria in 1995. Diane now works from her studio in her home Ormside, a small rural village in the Eden Valley.

Her fascination for atmosphere is intense, as is her desire to capture these illusive images with the transparency and sensitivity of watercolour.

As a self published artist, Diane has produced an extensive range of Limited Edition prints, and greetings cards, in addition to her original paintings.

Diane now owns and runs Viridian  - the gallery that was opened in 1997 and run as a co-operative for the first 3 years, before other founder members left to pursue their own careers.

Diane also exhibits in many galleries through out the country, and Scotland, and has work in private collections around the globe.
