Christmas in Keswick

As we run up to the Festive Season, Keswick is at it's best, so if you can treat yourself to a pre - Christmas visit, there is no better time. The lights are on, and all of the shops look really decorative and inviting.

It is always an interesting time in Viridian when seasonal pieces come in to the gallery. We have lots of lovely ranges of handmade jewellery that make the most ideal Christmas presents. This year we are featuring a range of exquisite small ceramic birds by Sally Walkinshaw - not just for Christmas, but I can see a Robin Redbreast in many a display.

And we are joined again by the hugely popular Sapart Reindeers!!

And don't forget the Victorian Fayre -  this Sunday 1st December in the market place in Keswick - just to get you in the mood. We look forward to seeing you and hope you can join us for a glass of Mulled Wine in the Gallery.

New Handmade Ceramic Jewellery

We are delighted to welcome Lesley Nason into the gallery as a new exhibitor. Using porcelain clay, Lesley creates hand formed pieces encased in jewel coloured glazes. These are then fired to 1250 degrees before being combined with silver, copper and glass to create individual stylish pieces of jewellery.

'Traces in the Landscape'

Opening Saturday 2nd November

Our next Spotlight On Exhibition will be a selection of mixed media paintings reflecting the legacy we have left on the environment through architecture, archaeology, agriculture and industry by Bill taylor.

'Enduring Patter' by Martin Copp

The title of “Enduring Pattern” springs from a common theme shared by these drawings. Each of them was motivated by a series of drawings made at the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Cast room of the work of the artist Jean Gujon (from 1547). The majority of the drawings feature figures inspired by this artist in particular, but refined through direct observation from life models.

All drawings are graphite on Canson paper.

Martin who now lives in Keswick, was an Art teacher and head of an Arts faculty in a Comprehensive school in Chelmsford, Essex for more than thirty years. Since retirement, he has specialised in drawing and print-making.

The exhibition will open on Satuday 14th September, and Martin will be in the gallery between 2 p.m and 4 p.m to meet customers and talk about his work. We hope you are able to join us for a glass of wine.
