Valerie was born in Kent. She studied the History of Garden Design and Flower Arranging and has taught in adult education for fifteen years. She became a demonstrator for London and Overseas area, which developed into competition work and with her strong sense of colour and design enabled her to win many titles at Area and National level.

On moving to Keswick in 1990 Valerie's interest turned to painting. The majestic Lake District scenery and the ever-changing light patterns inspire her work. She paints varying aspects of the landscape in many different mediums; pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolour.

Valerie has work in private collections both at home and abroad. Her work has been exhibited at a number of prestigious galleries and exhibitions in Cumbria and Ireland. Her distinctive style expresses the essence of landscape at its most breathtaking, in colours that provoke the imagination into realms of fantasy.
